Back Door Not Staying Up

Recommended Posts

Posted

hi all

I transported a large sofa the day before yesterday on my corolla verso 05 petrol

the back door had to be partially open while doing it

now it's not staying up and I have to hold it when closing or it will slam

it seems the shock absorbers were damaged or unloaded when transporting the sofa with the door open

is there anything I can do?

or is there a replacement part for them? hopefully won't have to pay toyota dealer's prices for them

I think you will find they need replacing. I had mine replaced under warrenty. I think Toyota allowed 6 minutes to replace each!!

There are loads of companies on line who can supply or even recharge your existing units for as little as a fiver each.

Do a google search for gas boot struts.

Here's one link to get you started - it even includes a fitting guide.:)

Her's another where you can fit locking rings shoukld you ever need ot move a sofa another time.

I used Struts Direct - good service and great prices. Mention my name and you may just get a discount - ask for Perky Pegram.
