Window Lock Switch

I have the 2010 Avensis.

On all my previous cars the electric window lock switch prevented paaengers operating the electric windows but allowed the driver to operate all windows with the lock selected as on.

On my car this does indeed stop passengers operating the windows but also prevents the driver operating them, this seems to me to be stupid and I assume my switch to be faulty.

The hand book does not shed light on this subject, do any forum members know if my switch is faulty or is this just Toyota being stupid?

Any replies much appreciated.

Your switch is not faulty. My 2008 RAV4 window switch works the same way. This is how my Nissan works as well. Were your previous cars Japanese?

The last two cars were not Japanese, I had a Vauxhall then a Jaguar and before them a Rover.

Thanks for the reply which would indicate my car is fine if not illogical in my mind at least.

Well, you've got to remember, those Japanese engineers do things a little different than most. I'm sure it's perfectly logical to them!
