Hi Guys

does anybody know where i can buy a 'luggage cover'. Not sure if that's the correct saying. The blind cover you pull back so nobody can see what's in your boots!

How much would Toyota sell it for?

If not where is the cheapest? 2nd hand or new

Thanks :)

If yours is a "Bothy type"i.e. a 3 door there is one on eBay now.

Then again a trawl around local scrappers might be fruitful.

I didn't think that the 4.2 3-dr had one. Mine doesn't (ain't a lot of room for one anyway!). Salvo's is an 02 reg VX so presumably a 5 door, which has the fibreboard shelf with two "roller blinds" on its front edge that hook to the rear seat headrests.

E-bay is probably best source initially as I'd guess that Mr.T would charge a small fortune for one.

Thanks guys but its for a 5 door. There nothing on eBay at all or anywhere for matter of fact

Just a thought, salvo,I have found things by looking at other parts offered for a model and sometimes they state that the whole car is being scrapped and to contact them if you are looking for other things.

As I said,just a thought.

It should have come with one. My 2002 VX did when I bought it new. I'm sure there was a thread on here very recently about a member selling a few items such as mudflaps. I think one of the items was the rear cover but can't for the life of me find it.

So did ours but I've seen quite a few 2nd hand which don't have them. I guess people take them out and then leave them in the garage and eventually find them some time after they've traded the car in. Not much help to the new owner, mind.

It is said to come from a "2002 3 door

Yeah, I noticed that too. However, I've not seen a 4.2 3-dr with a rear shelf and I've never seen one in a Toyota accessories brochure for the RAV. Also, as I said before, there's bugger all space between the backs of the rear seats and the tailgate (at least when the seats are on their rearmost setting) so I can't see what the benefit is of a shelf. There doesn't appear to be any obvious fittings for it at window level as there is in the 5-dr so I can't see how it would carry much anyway. I'd be a bit suspect about the "genuine Toyota" bit in the E-bay ad although I guess it might have been available in an overseas market.

Just had a look in my 2002 brochure (isn't it sad what we keep!) and it says option for the 3 door models for the rear parcel shelf.

Well, I stand corrected. Nevertheless, there can't be many owners who took up the option judging by the number of 3-drs I've looked at over the years that didn't have one.

That looks to be a completely different design to the 5 door one.

This is breaking and one looks like it as one in the back.

Might be worth contacting them??

The idea of a hard shelf with two roller blinds on it is an odd choice on behalf of Toyota.. Why not a solid shelf? I do like the way it can be positioned at different levels though. I took mine out because it it rattled..

Why not a solid shelf?

You wouldn't be able to move the seats back or change the rake angle if it was solid. Likewise, if you move the seats forward there would be a gap

I didn't know the rear seats were adjustable! Oh well, every day is an education here..
