Purchase A New Car Key?

My Car only came with 1 key so i must get another cut for my wife.

Anyone know how much Toyota charge? i have also seen that you can buy Toyota rav4 keys on eBay, any good?

Should be 3. 2 black with the lock/unlock buttons and one grey without.

pmb's right, there should be 3 in a complete set. Did you get the steel tag with the key number? One of our remote keys broke a while back & Mr.T wanted something stupid like £130 to replace it! If you trawl the web you'll find any number of suppliers but you'll need the number if you want the blade cutting as well. I eventually found one in Southport who supplied it for something like £25 and it's been fine although the plastics obviously aren't the same quality as the originals.

I suspect that your problem will be that you will need a transmitter module for the new key (normally you would just swap this from the old broken unit into a new one) but without one Mr.T might be your only option.

I used carkeyhelp.co.uk to buy a cut key from a good digital photo for £13. He also gave me my key code for future orders. Then I bought a used key for the remote guts on eBay.

There are instructions on carkeyhelp for the sequence required to code the remote to the alarm and the immobiliser chip on the remote PCB to the immobiliser using a sequence of doors and pedals.

The remote guts changed, you must make sure the used remote you buy is identical to the one you have, with or without a gold Badge on the back and with recessed or embossed lettering, otherwise it won't work.

Does the grey key also come with the cars with keyless entry?

We only had the two keys with ours,and one of those i had to repair

On my Urban cruiser which is keyless, you get 2 black fobs and a metal tag with the key ID on it. You must have the black fob on you to get in the car. Inside the fob is a precut metal key for if the Battery fails.Hope this helps.

On my Cooper S 2 keys and a plastic key. it is not keyless like the U/C.
