Guys and Gals .. I have been trying to transfer the contacts from My iPhone 3gs to the phone system in My 2006 Rav4 T180. Its the TNS700 system with the phone and CD player and sat nav all in one... I have now been told that the I phone cannot or does not have the ability to transfer the data to the phone system.. Is this correct and if so is there ant way around it ... Thanks

Wee Charlie.

Yes Charlie. This is correct. The iPhone does not have (for reasons best known to itself) the ability to transfer contacts by bluetooth to any device. I have tried to do the same in our car and failed miserably!!!

There are apps out there but my understanding is that it is only possible between "i" devices.

Be gentle with me - no iPhone, I went the Windows phone route myself, dont you have voice control on the iPhone itself, so you possibly dont need to transfer? maybe not an ideal solution but a possible work around....

Since you've only got the one mate, Charlie, can you not just put his number on the dashboard on a wee sticky yella Post It?

You could try an OBEX push (aka Send Business Card via Bluetooth) to see if that allows you to transfer one contact. If that works you can look at sending them in batches.

If the iPhone does not allow batch sending of Business Cards, If you use Microsoft Outlook you can send all your contacts to yourself, and they appear as VCF (business card files) email attachments which could then be copied to the phoone and sent together over BT to the car. Worth a try I guess.

Hi Charlie,

the Toyota BT phone connection on the TNS700 is a minefield! I'd had a Nokia 6300i for years when I bought the XT5 but it wouldn't communicate properly with TNS700. After some attempts I bought a Sony Ericsson K800i ( which I loathe as a phone - far too complex for little old me! ) but it did pair and work perfectly with the TNS700. I suspect that there is a software problem in the Toyota BT as deleting the Sony and then trying to re-pair it only works as far as the connection goes - it won't download the phonebook any longer. FYI I have attached the list of compatible phones for the TNS700. The iPhone is listed as being incapable of transferring numbers.

I now have a Sony headunit which works fine - but it is a bit of an extreme solution.
