Tvss Iiib Alarm Problem

Hi All,

Hopefully one of you can help me with this.

I have a 96' Celica with a TVSS IIIB alarm installed. I've had it 5 years and up until last week I didn't even know the car had an alarm, I received it without any key fobs or manuals.

About a week ago the alarm siren just started going off continuously. This continued when driving and there was nothing to do to turn it off. I eventually ended up disconnecting the Battery. However as the system had a backup, this continued for about an hour before running itself out.

I've opened up and accessed the ECU and disconnected this completely, but this doesn't stop it. Also checked the other connections, proximity, and transponder seem to be all connected. Disconnecting the proximity sensor doesn't help.

The unit was in Valet Mode via the DIP switches and as I haven't any Fobs I cannot reset it using the standard method. I've tried the dip which says enable alarm reset by key, but this doesn't appear to work either.

So any ideas? The car isn't usable until I can sort this out so hoping someone knows something!

Any ideas on how to simply stop the siren?

Have you tried disconnecting it, I've a '99 celica and just replaced the siren the other day. It's situated under the Battery tray but isn't really accessible via the engine bay, you have to remove the wheel and pull the wheel arch liners out the way. It could be the siren causing the problem, I done alot of reading on my alarm system as it would beep 16 times on arm/disarm, this apparently is due to water damage to the siren itself, I also read that it would eventually start going off just as yours has done, so I replaced it before it got to that.
