Scratches On The Interior

Recommended Posts

Hi

The IQ 2 I'm about to buy has a couple of scrathes on the interior plastic door panel and I wondered if anyone knows of any good products that will help disguise them?

Thanks

I take it you mean the brown interior rather than the new grey/black.

I have tidied up several now with good results.

Same cheap & chearful technique is used on many S/H vehicles,

the iQ finish/colour is slightly unusual tho.

(i had to resort to what 70's BL cars often required)

A set of childrens colouring pencils (waxy ones) or even felt pens should get you a good colour to match

& reduce the white in the scratch.

Some wax crayon sets have a near match that works as does cherry/brown shoe polish.

Wood interior touch up markers come in a teak colour which i tried once but didnt dry quite right,

the shoe polish or crayon was/is best i think.

Take your time & find the best match, practice on a small scratch,

use nail varnish remover to take off if you dont like the result.

Once happy with the result use sparingly non shine furniture polish to make it all look even.

Thanks George that's a great tip.

Yes it is the brown interior, I'll raid my son's art stuff.

Hi Lisa,

Welcome to the world of the IQ, hope you enjoy it as much as I have for nearly 3 years.

The first IQs had interiors that were/are very prone to scratching and in the early days of the forum there were plenty of posts about it.

If care is taken, which shouldn't be necessary really, scratches can be avoided but once there, as in your case, I not sure if much can be done.Especially if they are quite deep.

I am sure there are people in the forum who will have a good idea of how to lessen their impact, but I use a product called Aerospace 303 (or something like that!) which gives a protective finish against finger marks etc but won't prevent or remove scratches. It also gives a nice finish to the plastics.

Sorry to not be very helpful but if you look back to the very early days of the forum, a couple of years ago, you might pick up some useful info.

EDIT:I was writing this as George put in his post, I knew he would come up with something!

Hi.

I've had my iq about 3 weeks and love it. I have got the same problem with the interior scratches. Mainly by the seat belt buckles on the rear plastics by pilar. I bought some sticky 4 inch Velcro loop tape of eBay which has worked a treat and only cost £2.75 for a metre.

Hope this helps. :-)
