A pretty decent review from Honest John.

At least it a good one not like AE

I guess the only way to know how good a review actually is or how useful is to actually test drive some cars, it would be interesting to see how people on the forum get on when they go to test the New Yaris for themselves. What be even more interesting would be to hear comments on the rival cars if they are test driven.

I tested the new Yaris SR when it first appeared at my local dealer. I was not very impressed. Within a few days of that I also tested a Hyundai I20, that was very underpowered and not so solid. I also tested a Mazda 2 ( Tamura ) with in my opinion was far superior to the Yaris in most respects. As far as I could tell the main difference in luxuries between the Yaris and '2' was the 'screen' for reversing camera etc.

Yeah, the Mazzy 2 does seem like the one to beat right now.

I couldn't help noticing they need a 1.6L diesel engine to do what Toyota's 1.4L does tho' :P

If you look at the petrol version ( Tamura ) it is less than £10,000 on the road and only £30 road tax, but it is slower 0 to 60.

I just read the last post by avensis57TR and went to listen to the video suggested in the link but my Speakers are misbehaving tonight.

Anyway I thought I'd share my own review of the new Yaris with you all.I meant to do it before but didn't get round to it.

I took the new Yaris out for a test drive a while back - I have to say I loved it :yahoo: I was really looking forward to seeing the reversing camera in action and it was great! It was the SR so it had 6 gears, which felt just as easy to use as 5 gears. I thought I would miss the sliding rear seats - but the boot is actually bigger. I really thought I’d miss the digital lit up screen for the speedometer etc, but not at all, with the new Touch and Go screen, it would be too fussy to have the other digital screen. The Yaris I test drove was the SR so it had a leather trim on the seats, rear privacy glass, and darkened alloys etc. There was a T Spirit in the showroom with a panoramic roof, that was something else I was looking forward to seeing – very impressive.

Who said anything about 'cheap' plastics? The plastic in my 2008 Yaris looks good enough to me and in the new Yaris the plastic looks very smart, not at all cheap. I think the whole car has a really good quality finish, both inside and out. :D It was a pleasure to drive.

My opinion of the new Yaris - its brilliant!
