Rav 4 96 Immobilised ! Advice Please ?

Any advice on this please ? Its a 96 auto GX, has Immobilised and blowing fuses. Worried about garage charges, so i would appreciate as much useful info to arm myself with, as possible please !

Is your immobiliser use a key with a wee fob or does the key have a 'transponder thingy' in it?

The early RAV4s suffered probs with the alarm system as it was fitted after the car entered the UK, using equipment from a supplier who closed down in the mid 90's.

Your cheapest bet if you are not OK with car electrics is to find an auto-electrician who is confident on working with immobilisers. A dealer won't have much of a clue.
