Knocking Sound

Hi,

Recently ive started getting a loud knocking noise when going over bumps, ive narrowed it down to worn caliper guide bolts allowing the caliper to move which is the knocking i can hear, i dont get any knocking sound when applying the brakes over bumpy ground. What's the best solution?? ive tried re-greasing them which makes no difference. I got a quote from Mr T for £98 + vat for 4 bolts !!!!, is there a fix for it besides getting a caliper guide from the scrap yard?

Also has anybody found the rubber seat for the front spring wearing away and causing the shock to wear away at the spring and causing a creaking sound when driving at slow speed?

Regards Peter

Hello Peter, I think you really need to change the bolts due to wear.

hello guys

as a temporary solution you can apply a thin bras/copper foil to have gaps minimized between bolt stem and caliper hole. It definitely safe your pocket for a while -- but seriously think about new bolts or you can follow the way to make bolts of stainless steel on the lathe machine to reach the same gap minimizing. May be this will help. Cheers/Igor
