Strange Noise When Pressing Clutch?

Hi,

Today I found that when I press the clutch, there is strange noise coming out, such as noise coming out of old dry spring, or noise from old bicycle break cable.

No trouble with engaging any gears. This sound is audible when car is turned off, but supressed by engine noise when car is turned on and running.

It might be there for long time, who know but I noticed it today.

Just wondering does anybody come across this? I have tried to look at the engine, but could not find the exact location of it. It was coming from the bottom of engine cover.....

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Thanks v much baba, but I am talking about the noise coming under the bonnet, not from the interior of the car.

Hello Sam,

I have attached a drawing of the clutch release arm and I think you will need to try lubricating the pivot point and the end of the arm where the slave cylinder actuator rod meets this, that part is easy to do but you will need to pull the gaiter back to do the pivot point with a can of lube using a long straw like the ones supplied with the large can of WD40. This may cure the noise where these metal to metal parts become very dry and polished, if not it won't have cost you much so it's worth a try.

Regards .... Pete.
