Head Gasket Issues - Does This Apply To 2.0 Petrol Engine?

Hello

We are considering buying an Avensis here in NZ, and I have been looking through your forums to get general information on them.

Clearly there are some issues with the head gasket for the diesel D4D engine, but I don't have any ideas as to whether this applies to petrol versions as well. If we buy it will be a petrol 2.0L engine.

Im not mechanically minded so I might be missing something obvious, but could someone clarify if this is an issue for the petrol 2.0L engines?

Not aware of any problems with the 2.0ltr petrol engine. I have had my 2.0 ltr auto from new for almost four years and there have not been any problems with anything except the free recall on the petrol pipe last year. This was a precaution as I had no trouble.
