Using Carbon-Foil And Finishing The Lexus :-)

30 aug 2011:

Here some new foto's of the last project... front and carbon-foil---

Carbon foil is terrible to put on the edges of the car... it is just very hard to place.

But using a hairdryer it can be heated to make it possible to stretch just enough to place it round the bends.

I started with the right-front first... it was painstaking terrible to do.. and burning my fingers doing it.

You stretch and stick it into the fold and later cut the surplus away with a very sharp new blade knife.

The second and third and the fourth, I used a very sharp break-blade-knife to cut the extent away. This made it much easier to come round the bending of the fender.

You can see the places where has been cut... but when it gets a bit dirty one does not really see it that good.

The carbon-foil is bought in a car-shop, in the length of 70 centimeters and a width of 25 centimeters.

By cutting it in half .. one peace is exactly enough for 2 sides of the car (in the front or the back).

Hai David,

No I have not done anything with that logo... Not sure I should... It's in the middle AND there is an airbag!!! I hope the original logo is developed to cope with this in case of a airbag going off.

So ... thinking of it .... I will not change it... maybe take it away... so theres just black....

Greets,

Peter

Hi Peter

Thanks for your answer. I went in to MR T today and got the spares guy to pull up on screen a blown-p view of the steering wheel. I had already looked and seen 2 holes either side of the column with just a line of metal there. Well from the blown up view it shows all you have to do is put a screwdriver down there, one side after the other and it pops off. All it contains is the airbag.I managed to get to the navigation switches and changed the LED's as with other ones. I would suggest disconnecting the Battery before playing with it although I did do mine without doing that.Looking at where the Logo is I can't see any pitfalls if you want to change it Good luck.

P.S If your interested, some pic's will be on my centre consul back lights project later.

Thank you very much, David...

You did'nt take any screenshots of their computer perhaps... did you??

Oh... man... how I wished I had a DVD from the Toyota dealer with all the "exploded" views on it!!!

Greets,

Peter
