Clunking Noise In My Auris 2.0D

Hi,

Was wondering if someone could tell me if this was normal:

I have 57 Auris T-spirit 2.0L desil. When I start the car up and pull off after about 5-10 secs there is a loud 'clunk' from the front. It only ever happens when I start it then it is fine. Think it might be in the steering but not sure? Is it normal? does anyone else with the car have the same noise? Thanks

Haven't got the diesel but maybe the noise you hear could be the ABS system going through a self test routine when you first exceed around 5mph (which is totally normal).

I have the same engine, and I don't experience this clunk.

How loud is it? Can you feel it? Through the floor/seat/steering wheel?

Personally I dont think this is normal, could be anything from a loose engine mount to gearbox and clutch, or even just the cat living under your bonnet! Mr T would be happy to check it out for you for free.

I experience the same thing in my '07 2.2 D Auris. It went through a complete check before the MOT-exam, and no problems were found. I worry much more about my clicking steering column...

I'm glad its not juts mine then. It does seem to kick in when you go over 5-10mph so you may be right about it being the ABS thank you
