Toyota Hybrid Challenge

I was in a Toyota dealer's yesterday (Charles Hurst, Boucher Road) and spotted a leaderboard, the top MPG entries were:

72.7 Prius

71.0 Auris HSD

69.4 Prius

67.8 Auris HSD

66.6 Prius

66.4 Auris HSD

64.9 Prius

Obviously the MPG registered will depend on several things as well as the driver:

- the course each dealership uses (their one was a good mix of M-Way, country and city driving)

- the weather (including outside air temperature and presence/absence of ice, snow, rain)

- whether the car is warmed up or not beforehand

- the SOC at the start

- traffic conditions

So has anybody tried this and would you like to say what you got?

I tried this at the end of May at Westlands Hereford in a gen3 Prius first time driving one, was accompanied by a sales person and I was told I could not use EV mode and was restricted to eco mode witch I did not like, (absolutely dead throttle) however finished the run with 99.9mpg.

Wow 99.9! I got 81.3 and I was very pleased with that. I used a bit of P&G on my run and EV on the initial stop-start traffic while waiting to get out onto the motorway and warm the engine up. But I am gobsmacked at 99.9. :!Removed!: How on earth did you manage that!?

I just drove it the same as my gen2 anticipating traffic pulse and glide no aircon "it was a very warm day" this did not please the sales person but I insisted, and was as surprised as you that the mpg was so high. The sales person did give me a running commentary to how I was doing as I drove and he said he did not think that result was possible if he had not seen it for himself.
