Ecu Light

Hi, ppl. Just need a small amount of advice.

I have a 2001 1.8 vvti that was in need of new Big end bearings and con rod.

Whilst on the drive the ecu light came on when I was listneing to the knocking to determine where it was coming from. So I had a Engine rebuild guy fix the problems. When finished and the engine started the Ecu light came on again. He retrieved the code and determined it was the vvt sensor. He showed me where it was and I said I can change that myself.

Today I went a got a replacement, and when reomving my sensor the last inch of it had broken off. Now taking the head of I managed to remove the broken part and replace the sensor. Now the engine runs sweet but the light remains on.

Does the Ecu need to be reset or would there be another fault somewhere.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.

Hello mate,

it would be normal practice to disconnect the Battery whilst working on the engine so this should clear the ecu light if the vvti sensor was the only fault, if you haven't had the Battery disconnected the take off the NEGATIVE lead for 15 mins or so.

Good luck .... Pete.
