Car Alaram Turning On Automatically

Hi,

I have MK2 Avensis with 86K on it. No problems in the past. In last three month I had car alaram turning on automatically twice but without the horn and lights turning on.

First time, I filled the screen washer and some of it went down beside screen washer bottle. The alaram came on 3-4 hours later and was turning on and off automatically. The alaram sound comes from the trunk, and although I drove the car for 30 minutes, no difference at all. It kept going on and off every 3-5 minutes.

I thought it was due to screen washer going somewhere.

Now yesterday evening I had car wash and drove (5 minutes) from car wash to my place. Parked the car, no trouble. About 5 in the morning car alaram woke me up and again same symptoms. frequent truning on and off without car lights and horn.

I assume, it is something to do with water going somewhere, and both times it came long after the water entry.

Can somebdoy please suggest, what are the things which I should be checking? Also has somebody experienced it and if yes please share your experience.

Cheers.

With your suggestion of water being a point, i would think an earth short, but not sure how you would find the area at fault maybe a Battery check is in order, i do know that a voltage leakage plays a big part of the alarm going off.

Thanks, it happened twice only. And only when carwash or when I poured extra water around screenwasher bottle.

Thanks.
