What Gets Changed On A 2.2 Engine Change And What Extra Should You Get

When the engine gets replaced on the 2.2 diesels with a 3/4 engine (under warrenty), what gets changed? I think there was post on here outlining it from on the toyota techs but I cant find it (me and the toc search engine dont get on)

Also since the engine has to come out to change it what sort of things would you recommend also doing on a 2.2 at the same time with 50K on the clock? using the assumption that its out it might as well be done now.

I was thinking clutch mostly but anything else?

the engine and the inlet manifold are what you get new the rest is off your old engine unless when the parts are removed they are faulty then they will get replaced.....if you buy a clutch and hand it in it will be fitted free of charge as the clutch is already off..

Ormi thanks. Im pretty sure it was one of your previous posts id seen which outlined what got done on the engine swap. Very helpful post just dammed if i can find it.

IM guesing by engine you mean just the block ie block cams pistons sump etc? and as for everything else you mean injectors turbo other bits?

Possibly a numpty question but im guessing all the filters ie air oil and fuel get changed at the same time?

Also as mine is a t180 do i have to worrry or double check that im getting a t180 engine back ie not getting the 150 as im quite fond of the 180 ponys under the hood.

The engine (block, pistons,crank etc) all built up by Toyota, we swap over pump, alternator etc. You will have a new oil filter, not an air filter. If you have a 180 then you will get a 180

When my car came back after the problem it had these new parts fitted.

pipe no1

boss converter

converter man

gasket exhaust

gasket turbo

gasket kit engine

gasket cylinder

piston sub assy

ring set pistons

sealer

engine oil

oil filter kit

2 sets bearing set

engine out job.

Got the part numbers if you need them, job took seven days start to finish.

7 days thats ages!!!!!

you will also have no new fuel filter.....but if you want them buy them and ask them to fit the parts for you..itll be free also..
