2006 Verso 2.2 D4D Loss Of Power

Have tried a search and seems the 2.2 D4D is not without it's problems, be it injectors or head gasket.

It's the 138bhp one we have and it's been very reliable but a low revs it has been a bit noisy, alomost like pinking on a petrol car but when you go up the revs it's fine.

Anyway mentioned it to Toyota at last service and nothing really said about it.

Problem now is had a pretty major loss of power, heard a noise like a pop, almost like a blow out but not as dramatic and instant loss of power, as if there is no turbo.

No warning lights, no overheating and no fault codes stored when I scanned it.

At idle it sounds ok it's just not got any go about it.

Anyone have any pointers and if whatever they think is it covered by any extension Toyota UK may have allowed for certain failures?

They can look at it for at least a week so it's not sat at local garage who are going to try their best to get a diagnosis but they are also very busy.

Any pointers most welcome

Turbo pipe split or come off ?

not sure on the problem but i think most suffer with the pinking noise your getting so probably unrelated to your problem, i think the pinking comes in just before the turbo comes in so injectors are richening up just before that causing the harsh(ish) diesel knock, even my 2011 mini D does it just not so pronounced.

Cheers guys, that was my initial thought or hope....that it was just some sort of hose that had split or came off.

I did have a look but never noticed anything, sure the garage will let me know once they have had a chance to look over it fully.

Just when I ran a search quite a few stories with regards to injector and cylinder head issues.

I wasn't sure if the pinking noise was common, I was going to try and test drive a newer one to see if it was the same but never got round to it, seems normal there then.

i think sometimes the net can scare some , it did me first when i was reading all the horror stories

Agreed, that's why don't look too much, unless something amiss.

If you read all the problems on the net, they you would probably stick to walking, push bike or public transport :)

Had car looked at by independent mechanic, he is adamant that fault lies with Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF), the grinding noise anyway. Lets see what Toyota say on Thursday when i bring car in.

Hi, got a 2007 2.2 d4d, got exactly the same problem as yours, only had car for one week, luckily I bought it from Mr T, with 12 month warranty. Did you find resolution to your problem?
