We recently acquired a "grey" import. It was almost by accident - we were looking at another car, found this one and fell in love! The Ipsum was known for a while in the UK as the Avensis Verso but with a larger engine, a very good automatic gearbox and lots of interesting options like four-wheel drive and in incredibly efficient all-round climate control system.

The only truly negative part of the deal is the in-car media package. One - it is in Japanese! Two - the FM frequency range used in Japan is unique to that country and isn't RDS, Three - the Sat-Nav system, whilst looking similar to that in our old Avensis isn't in fact compatible. BUT! It has a rear-facing camera for parking which is invaluable and a front-facing camera for looking around corners, more sensible than you may think. Of course it has a CD player, a mini-disc player and an AM/FM radio but that isn't too bright.

Looking at a new Yaris the other day and the camera device in that seemed remarkably similar to that in our Verso - does anyone know if they are "the same enough" for them to be swappable?

I doubt it would fit, the touch and go system is all brand new and not likely to fit in your 2002 model year car. ALSO, would it be worth the £1500 for the touch and go display? i doubt it, best go for something aftermarket
