Is Latest Avensis Less Noisy Than 2003-2009

Both road noise and engine. I bought mine after only 38k but engine struck me as not the quietest.

Also have they fixed the wander prone steering tendency?

I find the old 1.8 a bit underpowered, is the new 1.8 better?

Lets put it this way.... it is not worse

Mine is the current model and the steering certainly does not wander. the Bridgestone tyres are slightly noisey but that is not a car fault

As for the 1.8 you will have to work that out for yourself as the current engine produces 147bhp

Different brands of tyres can help road noise. My mk2 Avensis is considerably quieter after switching to Hankooks

I have the 2010 Avensis which is extremely quiet on the move, I am told the new diesels have piezo ignition which makes a sharper noise then the older cars, I also tried the latest 1.8 petrol before buying my car and found it to be quite swift as long as you keep the revs going.
