Look nice

Thank you MarcandSebe. The Toyota ones cover just a small area.

They certainly look more durable than the Toyota ones. My drivers side mat has worn down to nothing in some small bits and I've not had them that long or covered that many miles.

Can you let us know who did them? Would you be able to find out if they would do mail order? Your mats look so much better.

There is a small shop here in my hometown (Greece-Crete). It cost 50€ for both mats(only front, probably 70-80€ for back ones as well) everything included. I am away until beginning of October but when I'm back I can ask if he can ship abroad. I have had them only a week so far but they look durable and they also cover a far larger area than the toyota ones.

Hey Marcos Ch, Any news on if your car mat maker is able to ship abroad? Also, to make them the opposite of yours, to fit right hand drive cars that is? Looking forward to hearing from you on this one. Look better than Mr. T's and would be nice if your 'local shop' would put a nice iQ logo on/into the mats. He could make a fortune selling on e-Bay; make sure you get your cut of the profits.

Haven't contacted them yet, was away again. I will try and do it this week. The only disadvantage with those mats is that they are rather expensive I think? The two fronts ones cost about 50€, which is 35-40£. Shipping fees won't be low since they are heavy. Will find out.

Nice one. Never been to Greece before, it will be nice to own a country. What do you reckon, £1000? Thanks Marcos Ch, you know we're only kidding right? We can't afford to buy Greece really. Thanks for the reply by the way.

:-), yes don't worry I know you are joking:-), any joke with good intentions is welcome. Maybe my chance to pay back the Greek debt by selling iQ mats on eBay:-).

Thanks, will let you know

Cool dude Marcos. Small steps can still get you very far if you make enough of them.

Hey there again,

I asked at the shop, he can make the mats opposite to mine if thats all that needs to be done to make them fit right hand drive cars. Unfortunately he doesnt speak any English but if you are interested in having them made I can help out. I can ask at a post office about the shipping cost. I bought the material myself from a carpet shop, then took it to him to have the mats made. it cost me about 50eu all together. I'm sorry :-(, I forgot to ask about putting the iQ logo on them but can do it tomorrow. I have had them a few months now and I am very pleased with them!

nice mats But I would like mine plane coloured (No not blue)

Nice one Marcos. I can see how this might get awkward for you, knowing that you bought the carpet and he made the mats from it. If we ask you to, lets say, have the guy produce mats of any colour, I take it that means you get the carpet? Which means work for you. Also, if we ask for different colours, like plain, blue, black, red... whatever, where do you get the carpet from? Very awkward for you I think. And a shame too, as you were so looking forward to helping the Greek economy, as were we of course. ;)

I mean, the cost, altogether, of 50 Euro's isn't bad considering the price and size difference between the Mr. T supplied mats. However, I suspect the cost of postage will be considerable, being as they must weigh quite a bit -in postage terms anyway. Will be interesting to find out however, but I have to wonder what other obstacles our governments can put in the way of this endeavour, to stop us obtaining a quality hand made product.

Look forward to further info when you have it Marcos, and many thanks for your efforts in helping us.

Hi Bob,

The man who custom made them for me sent me to a carpet shop and told me what kind of fabric material to buy. He thinks the one he used to make mine is extremely durable. If you want other colors then I can gladly ask him. If you decide to get a pair of mats then he will go and get the right material and color himself. I think he will be more than happy to do that since he will make some money out of it! If you are interested in any particular colour please let me know so I can ask him. My pleasure to be able to help out some iQ owners!

I hope Marcos doesn't take this the wrong way, but for that price you can get some very good quality units here in the UK.

Not at all Fish, that's the main purpose of any forum or club I suppose, that we can discuss things! But if you send some links or pics of those units it will make your argument a lot stronger! I haven't found any yet that cover the whole "feet" area. By the way, I found you last topic about mods very interesting!

Mine came with the rubber ones. They probably don't look as nice, but they are durable.

Posted

The £12 set of Rubber mats from Tesco has 2 nice big front mats that cover fully the carpets in the front of an iQ.

Maybe some trimming required under the throttle pedal for 'Pedal to the metal'.

My winter top tip for Much Cheapness.

(even cheaper if the 4 are missing one small rear mat that you dont need & customer services reduce the price.)

How much do the original Toyota ones cost George? Probably lots of money.

Bob, I asked the man about different colours, he can make then in red or blackish, like mine, but if there is another colour someone is interested in he might be able to do them if he knows what colour.

Marcos, sorry to say that my wife bought some rubber car mats today when out shopping. Obviously, she does not want to support Greece in it's time of financial crisis. I tried to explain to her that there was a plan afoot to save the Greek economy, but she wasn't having any of it, she wouldn't listen.

Of course -pardon the pun- this is all fabrication and I reluctantly agreed with her that a set of mats for £9.99 was a good deal. However, when I fit them tomorrow, I shall be thinking of the idea to supply the thousands of people around the world with an iQ with your -and the guy in the fabrication shop- superb fully fitting hand crafted car mats. It appears that your's may end up being unique, and by the way, great English from you in these posts/this forum.

So, apologies on behalf of my wife and I.
