Hello all

I wonder if anyone has had front parking sensors fitted as an option in addition to the protection pack and what was the cost of them .

I understand at the launch of the GEN 3 Prius there was confusion as to if they could be fitted along with the IPA but I now see its an option on the Toyota website .

I am sure the question will come up why do you need font parking sensors :D but our last 2 Toyota's had them and my wife likes them so if we have them or not is non negotiable :)

I know it is a totally different car but I had them on my Land Cruiser and they were brilliant.

I would suggest going for an after market item as you will save a mint.

Have a look here and you might find the item you are seeking.... good luck

Thanks Steve for your reply yes they are useful especially as you cannot see the bonnet ! The thing that attracted me to the Toyota ones are that I believe the 5 year warranty covers any accessories purchased when the car is new but must add I have found the parking sensors very reliable

As per the ebrochure, available in T3 or T4 only.

Also, the only Prius accessory for which the price is not listed on the website.

Yes sushd that's strange just the T3 and T4 but not the T-spirit I know the T-spirit has IPA but you can have sensors on the rear why not on the front ?? you would have thought Toyota would have overcome any problems since launch to enable this function a loss of revenue for them I think

Yep - I had them dealer-fitted on a new Prius Gen 3 T Spirit when I purchased it in September 2009. They work perfectly. They are a standard Toyota accessory and listed as such (Toyota Parking Aid, front 4-sensor system) on page 38 of the Prius brochure GBNGV-079PR-VB July 2009.

If you search this forum on Front Parking Sensors you will find previous threads about them.

Prius brochure GBNGV-710PR-VB July 2010; page 20/32 states (under Accessories -> Convenience): Toyota Parking Aid, front 4-sensor system (T3 & T4 only).

Any dealer will be able to confirm if it is still being offered on a T-Spirit in 2011. If it is, the ebrochure has inaccurate information!

Sagitar and sushd seems there is still confusion on this subject it would be interesting what Parts king or any Toyota technicians take on this is and the reason why they are are saying the sensors are only for the T3 and T4 in the accessory brochure when they have been fitted successfully on a t-spirit

You may be right, but it's difficult for me to say any more than:

Here is the car with the sensors clearly visible

and here is the vehicle order including the fitting of the sensors

I have blanked out much of the data to protect the innocent . . . .

I have just heard from the dealers they can fit them for me the price is an eye watering £466 but the price looks right looking at your invoice the only good thing is the 5 year warranty also covers the sensors

Thanks for all your replies

Nice clean car Sagitar :D
