First and most obvious...you may have a leak somewhere. Check to eliminate, remember water pump and heater.

Next you may have a problem with either the cylinder head, or the cylinder head gasket. There are three separate things that the cylinder head has running through it. These are coolant (water), engine oil, and combustion gases. If the head or gasket fail then any (or all) of these things can mix. Therefore your water could be mixing with your engine oil...check if the engine oil looks grey, or if the filler cap has grey stuff around it, or if the engine oil level is getting high. Also if the water is mixing with the oil then there is usually some sign of this in the water...ie the water is a bit oily or has a greasy film on it. Your water could also be mixing with combustion gases...which is not easy to detect without fancy equipment, although this often causes the car to run hot.

Do the basic checks but then it's a trip to a decent garage.

Hope this helps.

check with a simple things like:

- hoses / connections leaks;

- bottom leak control hole on the pump cover;

- possible head gasket burning out (subject the coolant color is other than an original)

- draining tube under the A/C heater

i am inclined to change the pump cos 68k are due for pump.

Cheers/Igor

hi mate

firstly note 68k seem a due to the pump substituting.

i do not consider other reasons now. first check with leaks under the pump having touched its case. cheers/Igor
