Broken Key - Alarm Needs Disabling

The Problem

I am the proud owner of a 2001 2.0d GS Toyota avensis. Its taken me to hell and back and recently I came back from seeing my inlaws to find that the company looking after my car had to jump start it. resetting everything including the alarm

The Key I have is the original one but the buttons have fallen out aswell as the microswitches.

Anyway - the result is me opening the car door to a very loud reception....Eventhough it stops when I drive it. the car is not immobilized and the alarm does not sound after it stops and I drive it. That said, it will repeat itself if the door is open and the engine is idle/not running. Man it's an earsplitter.

I have been to Toyota who tell me a new key is £200 - which is worth more than the car.

I have been all over the web to see if there is a solution to my door opening fanfare and the few solutions offered don't work.

Can someone please help - I realise this topic is somewhat "sensitive" for this site -but what the heck - it's my last hope.

Bonefide Ideas or genuine solutions most welcome.

Cheers

Intship.

Intship,

Struggling to understand what sort of answer you want.

You can get replacement keys and even new microswitches which would then mean you would have to sync

your new key tho the ECU. This has been done by quite a few on this board. Would then assume

that your problem is solved unless the alarm is now suspect due to some damage being done by the

Battery failing.

Or as cmia says just disconnect the siren for the time being.
