Can't Play Music Via Usb :'((

The cars a Yaris sr 2008

I have an 8gb memory card, and the car radio/tomtom states you can play music from a USB stick

It previously worked, however now it doesn't...

The sat nav scans the memory card, detects the songs, even shows the songs are playing, however no sound comes out of the Speakers

Does anyone have any experience getting this incredibly annoying system to play music from a USB?

This is the radio/sat nav

I'd check that the software for playing back MP3s doesn't have it's own volume setting or something first, check the manual. If that's not the case are there any ways to soft reset or hard reset the system like on smart phones. That get's rid of bugs in some cases, if this is a software glitch of some sort.

  • 5 months later...

Have you checked the sound setting of the Tom-Tom sat-nav, If the sound of the Sat nav has been turned off, then the music from your mp3 stick won't be heard.

Had the same problem having just bought the car in January.

Stick worked in son's Yaris and all other aspects of the radio/cd etc all worked fine.

Eventually stumbled on the sound "off" for the Tom Tom. Reset it and bingo, sound from the MP3 stick.
