Well, it had to happen i spose but one of my alloys has been slightly kerbed. Not really scratched but more like chipped. Any ideas / suggestions on best way to repair. Seen an advert by a company called Chips Away. Anyone used this service?

Cheers

Norman, I bet you were a little bit upset!!!! Did you do it or was it someone else driving it?. As far as I am aware Chipsaway do that sort of thing but the problem is with what you think is a "silver" alloy is a make up of a lot of different colours to make up that "silver" colour.

I remember when i had my T180 and had to have a ding cleared up on it, the Guy said he hated doing alloys.

Yes i was a little upset. Lets just say that i know the period when the damage happened and i did not drive the car during this period (ride a motorbike to work). Noticed that wheel damage whilst on last weeks caravan holiday in Wales. Just washed RAV4 and noticed a nasty stone chip on the bonnet. I read a topic recently with regard to stone chips and Charlies wise words so that will be on my agenda next to do.

Cheers

Norman,

Have had only two experiences thus far of Chips Away, and both have been of the emergency plumber type variety....sharp intake of breath, and then announce "that will be £120.00"....methinks they have that set as a minimum charge in order for the franchisee to pay The Ferryman, as it were.

Your damage looks really quite shallow and nearer the £45-55.00 repair by a local wheel repairer, although your geographical location may reduce your choices...?

Big Kev

Norman, where in the country are you based? There are plenty of local wheel refurb places as the big man has stated, just look in the yellow pages or you could use a company called pristine. As far as I am aware they will pick up your wheel & return it to you once complete if your location is an issue & their work is excellent

I've just had all the alloys on both our RAV's refurbed by The Wheel Specialist in Burton - absolutely excellent job, great service & reasonable price. Both cars in and out same day. Check their web-site to see if they have a branch near you: http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk

Can't recommend them highly enough.

Thx for the replies. Living in North Devon limits my opportunities for a specialist but will browse the net / yellow pages and see what comes up.
