Hi, I have a yaris D4D of 2004 vintage, my wife has a yaris 1.3 petrol, her car displays how many miles per gallon the vehicle is doing, on my vehicle only average miles per hour is displayed. Can average mpg be displayed on yaris d4d? also if a display unit from petrol yaris is fitted to d4d would average mpg be displayed, any advice/comment who be wellcomed.

No. You have no display of mpg on a Mark 1 diesel and the petrol display works on sensors not fitted to the diesel.

OP, the best you can hope for is something like a scangauge. It plugs into the OBD port under the dash at your right knee. I got one and after a few fillups it calibrated reasonably accurately. Although if you arent geekily inclined you may not like it. But if you are......
