Spares

Ok, so lets say I still had my old D reg Ford Capri Laser.

Would I still be able to get spares for it?

How long do franchised dealers keep, or are able to get hold of, spares for their models?

No particular reason other than that I saw a Capri earlier today and it bought back some fond memories :yahoo:

You will be able to buy most parts, although probably not from a main dealer.

-Porsche recently opened a new factory in mexico purelu to make parts for their older cars.

Toyota however destroy old stock.

Thanks K.S., it was just a touch of nostalgia!

Toyota don't destroy old stock like they used to, they now make much more use of the world of logistics. For instance, Belguim is the main hub, they will draw on stocks from any of the European warhouses if required, however, once the AMD (average monthly demand) drops off, then so is the likelyhood of them re-stocking that part, what you usually find is that for cars turning into classics, somebody will start to produce parts for them, there are lots of companies out there that specialise in just that sort of service, I used to deal with a place in Stourbridge for parts for old Jags, my old boss had an E Type and I could literally buy anything for it (at a price of course) including trim and body panels

Kingo

Thanks for that Kingo... Not that I'm likely to keep a car for that long now though... But that's another thread
