hi, had a mot today at toyota and one of the service guy told me my rear spring rubbers are adrift, said it would cost me £70 to fix. is it a easy job to do myself? any help would be great.

Mine went a while back but the chap fitting new tyres for me noticed and re-aligned them for free, didn't take long either but I reckon a spring compressor would come in handy! £70 seems expensive to me!

On the rear you don't even need compressors, as the spring and shock are separate parts.

jack up the car, remove the wheel, undo the shock at the lower mounting point.

May work with just one side loose, of not, put the car on a jackstand and undo the

other side too. Once both shocks are loose, the axle can pivot down and you can

take out the springs by hand, as they're both unloaded...

what does the rubber look like?

what does the rubber look like?

Also, what does the rubber do? Does it cause problems if mis-aligned or just more road noise
