Hi all, first thing HELP!

I only have one key for my 02 avensis d4d and the buttons have fallen out. I sourced an old key of a friend and last nite took the unit apart. This involved opening the case and the small case inside and removing the black Battery holder and taking out the small circuit board inside. I simply changed the small clear plastic cover with the buttons attatched to my unit and reassembled everything the way if found it. The car opens and clsoes with the remote no problem but now it wont start. It brings on all the lights on the dash and turns over but wont start. What have i done and is there an easy cheap fix without going to Toyoya?

Many thanks....

Just to update i rang toyota and they told me they cant get me a new key because i need a working existing key to programme a new key off. Mine opens and locks the car but wont start it. They said worst case scenario i would have to replace the unit in the ignition or reprogramme the ecu...which will be pricey! Not sure what to do now...

Have you put the transponder chip from your original key in the new one?
