Hi. I have been shopping for a new car lately and I test drove a camry yesterday. It was a lovely car. A 1995 or 1996 I think. The only thing that worried me about the car was it had 150,000 miles on it. The dealer told me that Toyota engines are good. A lot of people have always told me import motors are better. So I figured I should ask you guys and girls. Does anyone have a high mileaged Toyota? How does it run? or Would you guys buy this toyota?? Thank you :bye:

Well I drive an 1991 Celica GT with 177,000 miles on it. I have personally put on 127,000 miles since I bought it seven years back.

It still starts first time every time and I keep it checked out by the garage. It runs great and looks pretty good still as well.

hi mate, if it starts up from cold easily enough - drives well - has a full service history or even receipts/bills to show it has been well maintained then dont let mileage put u off..... although you should be buying it at a reasonably lower price than a car with less miles...

Import motors are more reliable? Not really sure about that one.

It all really depends on the previous owner, and how well they treated the car. The japanese in general tend to be very 'loving' towards their vehicles.

On the other hand, when you import a car you don't get any history with it.

On the whole though, Toyota make good engines IMO.

Thanks for all your replies :) I was confused about buying the car b/c of all the miles. So I did some research on carfax.com. It turns out it had one owner and it was a little old lady. Turns out she took excellent care of it. She kept a record of everything. Rotation of the tires, oil changes etc. I am very happy with the way the car rides and looks. :) Hopefully it will last for sometime. Thanks again
