Going Shopping Tomorrow

Well I finally got my new job offer letter today, so I can now go shopping for the car I want yahoo.gifbuying a nearly new one as the lead time is too long for a new one and my start date is Monday eek.gif

I did prefer a Red one, but it doesn't look as if any are available at the moment, next preferences are Black, Decuma Grey then White or Silver. But if it can't be Red then price, age and mileage will dictate the color.

Did I say yahoo.gif by the way biggrin.gif

I bought the first one i looked at today, I went first thing as it had only just gone up in the last few day and looked a good price.

iQ3 in white

Leather seats

First registered Jan 2011

2300 miles

£9695

Others I'd looked at for that money had a lot more miles and at least 12 months older, or similar age at least £1000 to £1500 more.

I pick it up on Fridayyahoo.gifyahoo.gifyahoo.gif

Yes. It looks great. I even thought about changing the panels out but its a bit cost prohibitive. The bit where the grill is in the foot well goes accross the front under the black panel and round to the drivers side is £130 + vat. The door panels, although two tone are plastic welded together to make a panel. God knows what they cost. Interestingly, as you know i am fitting illuminated scuff plates. They are plum coloured. I wonder if you got them for yours, they would be black. In fact they are made up rather sneakely, they get an original scuff plate and machine a hole in it and stick an illuminated plate over it. So to change interior you haven't got to re-invent the wheel.

Yours would look great with a blue dasboard. Lol

Red Manta Ray top & black.??

Bottom pictures were G/F's first iQ & its 'new interiored' replacement before she then got a iQ3 Multi with the same interior.

lol. Then my iQ inside. All gone now & missing them.

When I ordered my new red IQ I expected I would have to put up with the "plum" (brownish sort of)interior of the first IQs as the new whitish/grey colour scheme is not available with the red body colour.

When it arrived though I was pleased to find the interior is mainly black with very dark brown (almost black) parts which suits us fine.

It looks so much more sophisticated and plush than the plum and the materials used are better too.

Well chuffed, especially as it was a bit of a surprise.

I could post the pictures of it now if you liked,

but i thought it was just too cheeky as they show the Reg. no.

(sorry it is a bit like sneaking looks at someone elses Xmas presents)

I am searching the country for a bargain price on a used iQ3 Multidrive & not found anything that good,

certainly not as good as the deal you got on a manual.

Looks lovely.

What a bute

The thing i really like is the positioning of the door rubbing strips, I know they are not going to do there intended job down there, but asthetically I think they look better.;)

Mark,and George,

An honest answer please. if I was to change all the Plum panels to the white one's you see in George's pictures,Do you think it would go with the rest remaining, i.e plum leather seats, gear stick consul and top dash to the windscreen.

I have seen a 2011 light interior that had Plum leather seats fitted and it looked very good.

(i do not have pictures of it, but i might be able to find something very like it)

I have also been trying to find accident damaged iQ.s.

The few i have seen which were not suitable because of too much damage or too high price, all had Plum interiors.

For myself,

if i find an suitable accident damaged vehicle with Plum interior for my conversion,

i will be removing the plastics & respraying to a pale/light colour using Plaster bumper undercoat & interior paint finish.

I wouldnt recommend doing this to a valuable vehicle tho,my one is going to be used as an offroader, but i would like it a bit lighter inside.

I would if i was you,

check out Vehicle Trimmers/customiser to find out the cost of having the Plum plastic trim covered in Leatherette.

This would give a very nice interior, & may not be very expensive.

(will be very like a Cygnet without the cost of real leather)

It may be easier than sourcing the newer panels.

Thanks George

It is a good idea. I can see a few problems, the door panels for one .It comes off as one unit and if you can imagine 3 overlapping sections with pegs on the preceding ones and are pushed through holes and melted over including the bottom storage/drinks pocket. There are contour lines on the door panel that i quite like. The iQ3 white door panel is I think black at the top and then the white. It would be very difficult to separate the sections and cover bits of them. The picture with the footwell grill, again its a melted on grill. Unless I'm seeing the hole idea of covering wrong.

lol,

i didnt mean someone that would slap on some Fablon type stuff.

A professional can do twin colours, contrast lines, match edges, cover or create grills, slots etc with some skills.

It will depend the area you live in the type of place near you.

Check out the boy racer places just to see prices or examples of their work.

Should look factory for less than £500.
