Steering Rack Mounting Bushes

Rav 4D4-D 2004 model.

just had mot failure. Steering rack insecure, both mounting bushes have excessive play.

When pushed they said bushes starting to crack. Does this happen? thought bushes on Rav4 lasted forever

Anyone else had same problem?

You can probably find cracks in the rubber componenets on any 7 year old vehicle. Unfortunately the test is subjective and you might have found another gargae lets it go unless they are really bad. However, details of the failure are now logged on the computer of every test centre in the country and you have little option other than to get them done.
