I am having trouble getting no clear reading on the dipstick of my Aygo. I had the low oil light flicking on and off a couple of weeks ago. I immediately poured in two 1 litre bottles of oil I had in the garage. Low oil light has no longer been showing up but I could not see any clear level on the dipstick. Been to buy more oil today and have added round about another 3 litres of oil. Left the car to sit a good long time but still not really a clear level on the dipstick. My main question is how much oil would you expect an Aygos engine to hold as I now must have at least 4-5 litres in there?

Many thanks,

Josh Calow

An aygo holds 3.3 L of oil, if you have poured in another 5L of oil you could have a major problem cause filling your car with too much oil can be just as worse of having low oil, i would empty all the oil out of the engine immediately and refill to 3.3L with new oil filter if you can and then keep an eye on the level and check for leaks....Colin

I agree with Colin above... and would say DO NOT even start the engine until you have done as suggested... as this could all end in tears.

Too much oil can literally wreck the engine.

I filled a car with to much pil once and it just blew it out the exhaust although modern cars might suffer more...... Never put oil in with checking how much should go in there and how much is already in there. Sounds like u may have a problem. Are u heavy footed, ie, do u keep up with the traffic?
