If you find out an answer tell toyota they never beleive me and when they do hear it they say that there is nothing wrong with the pads and want to charge me for new pads to stop the noise.

i had the same prob 2 and i changed the discs and pads all round to dimpled and grooved, also fitted mintex extreme pads.

the squeak has gone and so as the brake dust build up on the rear wheels.

think most auris owners complain about the build up of dust on the rears compared to the fronts and its just the compound of pad they use

Same here fitted new discs pads all round from MTEC, cured the squealing problem and the brake dust on rear wheels

these r mtec discs and what a difference it makes to the stopping power, i paid £200 from eBay with the upgraded pads from standard mintex as the standard set cost £168 still a great buy tho

Just to be awkward, I upgraded all round with dimpled n grooved discs and Mintex pads from eBay, and for the first time since I bought the car it's developed a squeal!?!

I've also found the pads tend to "go off" after a period of hard driving plus give off a terrible stink when I pull up. Never had that from the factory fit pads.

Might try EBC's.

Bob.
