Hello Boys and Girls

Thought I would join the Forum as I am about to be the owner of a 2003 VVTI 150bhp Rav4!.....Needed something reliable and 4 wheel driveable for the Swedish Winter ahead! Can't believe I have paid so much for a 9year old motor!....but 2nd hand price are crazy here!....Picked this up while test driving an old 2001 Honda CRV.....although the CRV was in better nick....it didn't drive as well as the Rav2....and as the Mrs is going to be driving it mostly, it needs to be "Mrs proof"!

The car has done 120km's with full service history and one owner.....so am hoping it will be ok? Anyone, got any advice for anything I should be looking out for?...Been told the VVTI engines may drink oil after 60,000kms.....Is this correct?.....Anything else I should be looking out for? Be patient.....there will be lots of dumb questions heading your way soon! hahaha

Was planning an oil and filter change as soon as I pick it up, although It appears to have had a full service done in June....but always better to change it I say.

BTW Am Scottish and moved to a little village South of Stockholm 5 years ok.....so although I am a non UK resident...I think I still qualify eh?

Very Best Wishes

Allan

Hi,Allan and a warm welcome to you.

I know you will be in good company in the RAV4 section as there are many members on there who call others sassenachs.

They speak in a strange tongue sometimes, but they are not a bad bunch and have even made sense to us motley crew from south of wall!:rolleyes:

Look forward to seeing you on there :thumbsup:

Hi Allen and welcome to TOC, as crofter says you will get plenty of advise when you put any questions on the Rav forum. yes it always pays to give a car you just brought a filter and oil change as you know what oil is going into it.

Many Thanks for all the welcome notes......@ GordD4D are you serious about snow?.....c'mon! hahaha We have not had any yet....although the North of Sweden has had some already....still abot 12c here during the day....we have had a very mild Autumn so far....although everyone is predicting another cold Winter this year!....I picked the wrong the decade to emigrate to Ikealand....last year was the coldest with the most snow in living memory! Great timing!

I'd always do an oil and filter change. Plus the fuel and air one to while I'm at it :toast:
