Hi all.I have bought myself a Jap import celica. it Has 90.000 miles on it its a M reg With no mods on except a De-cated [supposed to be performance exhurst] but not to sure. I have a few questions what i hope you could help me with.

1st of all wanting to get it serviced but gareges aint to sure what oil to use cause its an import. What do you use?

2nd What would be the best induction kit for it and is it worth doin due to the milage.

3rd I wont to change the exhurst cause its stupidly loud, people can here me miles away Lol and put a performace one on. Whats best to put on it.

And finally What would you advice me to look out for with such high milage.

Thanks for your Time and advice. Dan

The engines are pretty solid, so don't worry about the mileage.

The oil to use is 5W30 semi synthetic, which will be listed in the manual.

Induction kit isn't worth it. Stick with the standard airbox and get a performance panel filter. It will be more resistant to heat soak and therefore will perform better. Induction kits are only worth it if you want the noise.

If you want a performance exhaust you need to have a custom system made, but be warned it'll be loud. The alternative would be to have the stock midpipe and fit a Blueflame cat back system.

It is rare for me to disagree with edwardio, but with a turbo charged Engine, I strongly recommend you use a 5W40 viscosity fully synthetic oil. Turbo's operate at very high temperatures, and with a 5W30, I fear the oil will be too thin to offer sufficient protection.

Look out for wear on the "figure 8" suspension, it is expensive to replace so hopefully, yours is OK at the moment.

I have to agree with Scarlett on this. I mis-read that it was an M-reg.

I'd recommend Toyota's own semi synth 10w-40 and regular 3000 miles oil changes. Its what Toyota recommend and its cheap.

Induction kits are only any good if you are going to seal them off from the engine bay heat.

Unless you are trying to break the 300bhp barrier you are better off with a normal performance panel filter in the stock air box.

The Mongoose exhaust system for the ST205 GT4 is sensible and good value for money.

What brand is the exhaust you have? (Usually says on the sides of the exhaust tip)

Japspeed is a cheap system but good quality. If you dont like the sound then i think the Mongoose is the system for you.

I would leave it de-catted. As there is a noticable performance gain and you legally dont need a CAT to pass an MOT as you have a 95 Import car.

Silkolene pro race "s" 10-60w or millers 10-60w both fully synthetic and will make both engine and turbo run better and longer! Don't and I mean dont put cheap stuff in! It will end in tears!

10w-60!! Thats a bit thick for one of these engines! Maybe for a rebuilt block with forged internals or something, but Toyota recommend only a 5w40 or a 10w40 depending on the climate.

On a side note, the engine was only ever designed for Semi Synth and even though in theory fully synth is better i've always found Toyota engines run better and quieter on semi synth with regular changes.
