Raising The Car

Hey!

I've been driving Opel Vectra for some time now. It's quite high and very soft, so I started considering to raise my car. I want it to still look good but to be higher and easier + more comfortable to drive. My plan is to make it look more like a cross-over.

Here is my inspiration:

These Auris' are approx. 30mm higher compared to stock. My goal is to achieve effect similiar to that, but I want to bring wheels much more out to get bigger offset.

With bigger offset I mean something like this:

There's not much info on the internet about raising the car. Does anyone know which would be the best way to do it? I know I could get +25 or 30mm springs from Russia, which are plug&play, but I probably need more height... On the other hand, it probably would be quite high and unpleasant then. Maybe +30 would be good compromise?

+30 is more than enough. Just remember if your wheels/tyres stick out further than your wheelarches then it will fail its MOT.

You like the look or plan on going Dune Racing? :)

Terrible idea.

You will raise the centre of gravity and the car will be awful in corners at any speed.

Not only that, it will probably look daft.

Everyone likes something different :P

Agreed the handling will be compromised, and unless larger wheels are fitted it will look very silly indeed.

OP, do what you want to do as it is YOUR CAR, just be legal and make sure that it looks good, I want you to prove us all wrong ;)

I think I COULD like the look. Don't know before I try...

I know about the gravity, but on the other hand I'd move wheels further from each other which would compensate stability lost because of the rising process.

I've spent quite a lot on the car allready. Buying new springs, rims and tyres would cost at least 1k€ Will have to investigate how much would I get for my H&R springs and the wheels first... Probably sell the winter set too and go for something more, well, different (at least it's different for me). Maybe two sets of steelies in 17". With lip obviously.

Stretched Tyres... not sure if raising is part of the Euro look but its definitely unique

Yea, stretched too... Would make them look even more wide and recessed. Actually I believe my car is as Euro as it can get at the moment. So raising and adding steelies would be a step towards something else, don't know what though :D
