Hello everyone. My name is James Pennington (olddude) from St. Augustine, Florida, USA. My son recently purchased one of those pitiful frontwheel drive cars ( Honda SI) and passed over his red 1993 Mr2 T-bar to me. The car is in decent shape, but needs much work before it becomes the beast I want it to be. I ask in advance for your tolerance of many ignorant technical questions to come and I hope I will be welcome here in spite of my age. (And, I promise not to look for WMD on this forum)!

Welcome to the club. TBH it's nice to have a decent age range. Makes things so much more interesting :). Any problems with working on the car, be sure to ask as many questions as you like. There are some very knowledgable chaps and chapesses here.

I'm just about to embark on the project similar to your, restoring a White GT I've just purchased. I'm already getting a good grip over MR2's (having owned my red Tubby for 5 years) and hoping to get even more knowledge working on the new addition.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind welcomes. As soon as I can figure out how to do it, I will post a couple of pics of my car. (Tried to paste from my website without success). As I said before, there are many things I want and need to do to put the car in top shape. I'll detail just a few things that had been done(before I got car), a few things that have been done since and a few problems encountered. (Not to the point of boredom I hope)!

Had been done....springs had been chopped  (before my son bought car)

....15" wheels had been replaced with 17"Avantis (nitto tires)

....Weapon R Air intake added

....Greddy exhaust system added

....Viper alarm system added

....titanium window tint added (nice) :)

....Sony Xplod sound/boost System added :help: (it doesn't work)

We have done ....replaced the wrecked suspension with AGX adjustables, Eibach

Sportline springs and added Eibach camber kits.

....replaced Avantis with original manufacture 15" wheels (toyo

proxes fz4's)

Need to do..........replace clutch

..........repair air conditioner (live in Florida!) Sorry, you call this the

climate control sys I think. Odd that I lost my idle up the same

day cc stopped working? Any connection you think? Sounds like

electrical circuit problem.

..........refurbish interior. Current tan leather with black dash etc. tan

carpet.

..........rust repair or replace driver side lower door skin (2 cm rust spot)

..........paint

..........etc.,etc.,etc.

..........major irritation...can't get boot lid open. Lock stuck in valet! Any

one else had this problem? Any solution other than locksmith?

Olddude tired. Must sleep. Maybe feel woman first per dj_davo. ;)
