Celica 190 Super Strut Shocks

Hi folks,

I haven't been on this board in a while but I'm hoping you can help me out with something. My 2001 celica failed it's nct(mot in Ireland) on 2 leaking shocks - 1 front and 1 rear. I have been trying to source replacements for them which is proving quite difficult. Toyota themselves want absolutely crazy money or them. I mailed rhdjapan but once shipping is factored in the savings are negligible. "Advance pitstop" can supply and fit new shocks for €800 but that is still pretty expensive in my book.

the toyota part numbers are

48510-29735

48510-29445

48530‑29885 - rears

I don't think I am going to get genuine toyota parts from anywhere for less than the €800 advance quoted me but before I go head with it I am just trying to check out alternatives. I know that KYB supplied the original shocks for the car but they don't have a listing for it in their catalogue(just for the standard suspension)

Does anyone know where I could get a KYB part number?

Does anyone know if shocks from different super strut car will fit mine? (levin/st202 etc)

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it, I'm finding it very difficult to find information on them at the moment!

tried tcbparts.co.uk ?

yeah, they have no listing for super strut for gen 7 celica. They do however list it for the st202, which is one of the reasons I'm trying to figure out if all super strut shocks are the same or if they are different for each car. thanks for the suggestion!

I just looked up the Gen7 superstrut parts numbers in the Toyota parts catalogue.

They dont match the part numbers of the ST202/ST205 Superstrut.

In that case i can only recommend heading to your local Toyota main dealer for the shocks.

much appreciated. at least that rules out one possibility for me. I still haven't gotten around to getting the kyb part number off the shock itself(*hopefully friday if the weather is ok) but so far advance are looking like the most cost effective solution

The ST205 front Superstrut shocks are always appearing on eBay for about £25-50 a full used set.... May be worth picking a set up and seeing if you can get them to fit your car with a slight bit of modification?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-Celica-Gt-four-ST205-Full-Suspension-/260868138709?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cbcf3e6d5

It may just be the case that the springs are bigger on the ST205 to take the weight of the bigger heavier engine. So it may be that the seat for the springs is bigger than the Gen7 version of the shock and that your smaller springs will still work on them.
