Can any of you that are in the know please tell me where the DRL's are located on the Avensis?

My 2009 model doesn't have them but am I correct in thinking all new cars have to be fitted with them?

The new law says that new car manufactured in 2011 should have DRL's. Strange enough I still find it 'optional' on new cars.

I am not sure about 2009 model, but I fitted them on my MK2, which cost me £60 pounds and 2 hours to install.

Hope that helps.

No, the law says that they must be fitted to all new car designs as of 2011 but as the current & previous Avensis models were designed before that they needn't be fitted.

Correct, it's new models, not new cars. Whether the new model bit includes facelifts since Feb 11 or not.....?

All new cars are not required to be fitted with DRLs. In the run up to launch, all vehicles have to be approved for use in the UK (homologated). Vehicles homologated from 7 February 2011 are required to have daytime running lights as standard. For example the new Yaris was homologated before this date,so the same would apply to the Avensis,as its only a facelift design, not a new type of car. Thats why DRLs are optional on some cars rather than standard

Along with foglights and auto headlights one of the worst things to be fitted to modern cars. Most are far too bright and in some circumstances are likely to cause danger by distracting drivers from other hazards on the road.
