Oil Spec For 2006 Ad Engine?

I needed to top up the oil level last week in the new engine kindly fitted by Mr T. Its done approx 2500miles since fitting so i called into my local autoparts store today.

I asked for 5w30 fully synthetic and was then asked if i needed MQA MQB or MQC??? Eh!

Anyhow, i gave him the reg number of the car and he was able to tell me that i needed MQC.

I ended up buying a 5 litre of "Motaquip MQC MID-SAPS 5W/30".Its labelled as ACEA A1/B1 ACEA A5/B5 ACEA C2 API SM/CF FORD WSS-M2C913C.

£19+VAT, Thought it was reasonable enough.

The guy behind the counter seemed to know what he was talking about and was saying that the spec of oil used is to comply with emissions controls and using the wrong iol in modern cars can harm the DPF.

I needed .75litres to bring it up to the mark.

My question is-

Has anyone used this spec of oil before?

Does .75litres seem ok for a new engine been run in for this mileage?

A new engine can use some oil until it beds in. I would just let your dealer know what has happened so it is logged.

That seems like a very good deal for C2 spec full synth oil, when you think that Mobil 1 ESP is well over £50 in some places. Good find mate.

Castrol GTX Magnatex 5W30 Fully synthetic oil meets or exceeds all the specifications and requirements of Toyota. When on offer its £10 for 4 litres and £3 for a one litre container at Asda..... Why pay more ????

I,m able to get trade discount with the retailer. I,m not sure what the retail on it is but as CharlieFarlie says, £10 for GTX in ASDA is a good deal also. I was a bit taken aback as to all the differing specs of 5w30 and of the consequences of putting in the wrong oil.

Anchorman, I spoke to the dealer before going ahead and topping it up on their advice. The new engine is starting to free up nicely now. I,m thinking about getting an upgraded Chip kit from Kingo when i,m happy that its been run in sufficiently.

There are so many different specs of 5w-30 oils meeting a wide range of manufactures vehicles! it can become a bit of a nightmare sometimes. Have you also thought about the "Tunit" boxs? They have a 3 year warranty with a 1 year drive train also. New they cost £485! But you can pick them up (As I did) for around the £130 mark. Mine was only 6 months old and had the balance of the warranty left to play with. Tunit are very good with some fantastic reviews.

TBH, i havent made my mind up yet on which to go for but the fact that Kingos doesnt affect the Toyota warranty must bode well for it. I know my car is now out of warranty but if its good enough for a new car, then fingers crossed, it wont do mine any harm.

You'll also find that the likes of Tunit also doesn't affect your warranty either. In fact they also give you a drive train warranty that no one else offers as far as I know. Check with Kingo to see what warranty is with the box. A lot of people on here use that box and have had some great results.
