Loud Whistling Noise + Another Question

Hi all,

I experienced something strange on my car today. Shortly after start I had to stop at a traffic light, and I heard a loud, whistling noise coming from the front of car. A few minutes later again. What was that? Anyone heard similar before?

Other question, apart from above:

Could you list me the sympthoms of a HG Failure on the 2AD-FHV (D-CAT) engine?

As with most turbo cars it could be the turbo fan you can hear, not a problem unless other things start to happen like white smoke out of the exhaust, loss of power. Other bits that can whistle are belt pulleys, alternator, p/s, a/c pulley bearings. A change to damp/cold weather sometimes this whistle shows up.
