Hi,

I've got a K&N air filter on both my Avensis T180 Estate and my VW Polo TDi and they work really well and alow more air to be sucked into the turbo and alows the engine to breath better. And yes they last for the life of the car. You can wash them out and re oil them with the K&N filter kit (Get one off Opie Oils as I found it the cheapest) and this oil does not mess up the MAF in my experiance in over 50k of using them. I've found that I get more mpg when its hooked upto a Tunit box.

Hi forevered,

I fitted a K&N to my last car a Mazda6 sport and ran it from 42k to 93k miles.

Yes, Mistermena is absolutely correct, every 25k miles you need to wash the filter ( I used Fairy liquid in the sink) then dry it out and then re-oil it with the special filter oil. And it is guaranteed for the llife of the engine/car.

This may consider this an upside or a down side, but the K&N is a performance filter and it does just that. It lets more air into the engine. Which the MAF senses and sprays more fuel into it. This increases the performance somewhat and also the fuel consumption - because you will be tempted to use this increase in performance.

The biggest advantage is that you will never have to buy any more air filters for your car.

Your decision.

Cheers

I always have done and always will change my air filter every year. Genuine Toyota filter.

But I'm tempted, now, to try a K&N filter.
