Improving Hi Fi Sounds ?

Charlie, if you don't have 'little speakers' called tweeters on your door panels (where the mirror adjustment handles are on poor people's cars  ), ask your dealer about buying a set. At the same time ask about the sub and if there's an amplifier add-on.

From reading previous messages on here, I know a tweeter upgrade kit is/was available for the 4.2 and cost just under 100quid with all the wiring loom supposedly already in place in the car, so you just plug them in (having removed door panels etc). I assume this also exists for the 4.3 if it's not already equipped, and that the same is true for any sub and amp wiring if upgrades are available.

Those three should help quite a bit, and although I dare say you could buy better stuff cheaper from a brand, at least with the Toyota kit you've no need to go messing around with wires and compatibility issues.

, ie if your speakers say 8 ohms, buy another set at 8 ohms. That way you won't risk damaging the amps in the head unit (SHCM if he chips in will tell you what is safe if you select different). When it comes to

Thanks Dave! :ffs:

I'm keeping out of this one.

I think (If my memory is not playing up) Charlie's H/U has a 4 Ohms sticker on it, so 4 Ohms or above. However, the door tweeters are possibly wired in parallel with the lower front door Speakers, so if they are 8 Ohms, the door ones might have to be that too. I really can't get worked up about it. :bored::yawn:

Anyway, for yer over fifties, the top end frequency response of yer lug holes is probably well shot, so why bother? R4 LW probably sounds "hifi"! :P

Now, who wants some magic snake oil to paint on the edge of their CDs? I can do you a really good deal..............

Happy belated birthday. It was more aimed at the early retirees living north of the wall (The 500Hz roll-off retirees ), rather than your good self Dave
