Loss Of Power Under Light Load

Hello All, Newbie here looking for some help from some experienced heads..........as I am having this ongoing problem with my Avansis 2.0 D4D year 2004.

When I am  driving along the road (cruising with a light foot) and not pushing the engine hard, sometimes I experience a sudden loss of power and if I take my foot off the accelerator for a few seconds and then put it down again the problem goes away and full power seems to be restored until the next time it happens. If I am doing motorway driving this can happen often and then again it might not happen for a while.

Had it plugged in to diagnostic tool as the engine management light was on, but the only code stored related to heater plugs, unrelated I assume.

Any ideas as to what could be at fault??

Many Thanks,

David

hi David

- fuel filter change

- alternator idle test

- feeding voltage test to SCV

cheers/Igor

Yep... Fuel filter is what I'd be looking at 1st! You could also try putting a tank of Shell V-Power derv in with a can of BG244 if the other checks all come up okay.

Hello mate,

you could try taking the car out and giving an "Italian Tuneup" that means a good fast drive with the engine under load like climbing a long hill in 3rd gear at around 4000 rpm if that is not possilble just keep the engine revs high in a lower gear on the motorway. This may clear the crap out of the EGR valve if not then get the EGR valve cleaned out and there is step by step instructions of how it's done on the forum.

Pete.
