D4D D-Cat Ad-Diesel Engines

I have a 2009 (new shape) Avensis T4 Tourer with the 2.2 litre D4D engine which was first registered 27 April 2009. Until April 2012 it remains under warranty. I am presuming that it remains as vulnerable to the head gasket problem as the previous shape vehicles but am curious regarding the differing cut off dates for the different models in the message. Is it the case that being relatively new the new shape Avensis models have yet to encounter the problem in significant numbers or has there been a modification that would make newer cars less prone to the problem? Can anyone advise please? I note Toyota attribute the problem to carbon build up. Does this make the case for regular use of decarbonising additives particularly for cars which undertake a high proportion of shorter journeys?

I think its wise to use a good quality of fuel such as Shell V-Power ect in any oil burner that has a EGR valve. Also a tin of BG244 in the fuel every 10k to help maintain the valve/fuel pump/injectors as a part of servicing. I'm not sure if the newer shape Avensis suffers from the same problems as the older T25 models! But I bet the EGR valve does as with most of the other marques that have the dredded things!
