Egr Valve

Hi all

Hope everyone is well :)

Right.....

This EGR valve thingy ???......what does it do please,what symptoms does it give if it needs....... cleaning ? ?

I had the SCV valves replaced earlier this year,but the engine is still holding back a little when i floor it . & does still give the odd kick as well...but then just goes & goes

I can be in any gear (but normally in 4th or 5th) at say 60 ish engine ,fully warmed up , i go to get past someone and it does hesitate a little.

No warning lights at all......at the moment.

If i get the EGR cleaned at my local indie,will it help ?

AFAIK the EGR is part of the emissions system and re-circulates some of the exhaust gases. The rav4 EGR is easy to clean yourself have a look at the following link: -

At least the RAV4 EGR is not watercooled like on some cars as i have looked at failed watercooled EGRs where the the coolant circuit has perforated the hot intake chamber and coolant has entered the engine> End result blown engine as water don't like to be compressed.
