Hello

basically i'm currently looking for a change. my mate bought one brand new in 2008 and i have sat in it a few times and absolutely love it, it feels solid and he has had no problems to date. interior needs a bit of updating but you get the sense that it'll last. my mate suggested that i should get the T-spirit as fuel consumption will be better. i know forums can be a bad place to research because it gives people bad impression of a car. after some brief reading, the 2.0 D4D T-spirit seems like the more sensible and reliable choice.

FYI i will be buying a sub £9k 2006/2007 plate Avensis.

is that true?

i need advice from both T-spirit and T180 owners, did you guys wish you had the other version? and why?

Hello and welcome,

I am very happy with most aspects of my 2007 2.2 d4d 150bhp T-spirit but I expect the question you asked will get a lot of opinions. I expect that extra power from the 180bhp is nice but the fuel economy lsn't as good and I think the 2.0 d4d would seem under powered for me anyway. The brakes on the diesel models are a weak point, it does stop but the pedal pressure required is poor compared to a lot of cars.

Good luck with your search .... Pete.

Or get a T-180 and bang a Tunit box (And K&N air filter) on it and get 48.2 mpg at 70mph

the 2.0 is the safer choice as it seems to suffer less from the head gasket problem that can afflict the 2.2.

the T180 is a lovely car but the DPF will sap your fuel economy compared to the 150bhp 2.2
